An upgrade of Frew Foods International's Stawell plant is set to create 250 new jobs & nearly double the site's production capacity. The company's plans to expand its lamb processing site over the next three years is expected to cost between $40 million & $50 million.

The supermarkets visited were aimed at high-value customers and located in Westfield-type centres similar to Australia, but around triple the size and complete with everything from aquariums to ski slopes. In both supermarkets, Australian beef dominated shelf space far more than any other country, including New Zealand, Brazil and the US.

Australian organic beef featured prominently under the Waitrose Duchy brand, while the general Waitrose label featured both branded and unbranded Australian Wagyu and Australian Angus products. Noticeable amongst the brands was Stanbroke Diamantina.

The Waitrose also offered a partitioned-off area for the sale of pork, an interesting feature considering the UAE is a Muslim country.

Bindaree Beef has employed more than 200 new employees in the past two years, with that figure to be matched in the next three to five years. "We've increased it from about 1000 head of cattle a day to 1200 a day and we can't do anymore without significant investment," Mr Clements said. "This biodigester gives us a platform for growth without having to create more ponds and create more coal smoke. "For the neighbours, it means reduced coal smoke, no pond or paunch odour."

The three-farm beef cattle grazing enterprise spans 15,522ha, with reported price expectations well above $4500-$5000 per hectare. For the past six years QGC has leased the farmland to Stanbroke Pastoral Company.

Lockyer Valley beef and cattle company Stanbroke Beef will receive up to $9.9 million in funding from the federal government to construct a state-of-the-art facility at its Grantham beef processing plant. The Member for Wright Scott Buchholz said new manufacturing equipment would allow Stanbroke to increase its throughput and product offerings and deliver a range of innovative products to new markets in Australia and overseas.

Stanbroke's chief financial officer Roland Atherton said they were incredibly grateful for the support of the Modern Manufacturing Initiative, which will enable Stanbroke to construct a state-of-the-art, value-added facility at its Grantham site.

The company has five beef brands - Diamantina premium brand, Sanchoku Wagyu, Flinders Natural free range, Signature Black Angus, and Augustus grain finished.

Expansion plans are on the horizon again for Bindaree Beef after Hong Kong's wealthy Hui family this week bought a 51 per cent stake in the northern NSW group in partnership with Beijing-based equity fund, Archstone Investment.

The Chinese investors already have beef property interests in Western Australia, but are largely involved in the real estate and hotel development market in Asia and Australia

The value of investment consortium's share has not been disclosed, however the previous unsuccessful joint venture deal for 45pc of the big processing and marketing business was reportedly worth about $140 million.

LOOKING to be at the forefront of meeting emerging consumer demand for ready-to-eat beef products, northern NSW processor, Bindaree Beef, is expanding it's retail-ready operations significantly. Bindaree will lease a large scale meat processing facility in south-east Queensland to house the manufacturing of steak, mince and stir-fry retail-ready products, as well as cold storage, blast freezing and warehousing of finished goods.
