Get Out movie review & film summary (2017) | Roger Ebert

His film is essentially about that unsettling feeling when you know you don’t belong somewhere; when you know you’re unwanted or perhaps even wanted too much.

A young man

is walking down a suburban street, joking with someone on the phone about how he always gets lost because all the streets sound the same.

“Run Rabbit Run” by Flanagan and Allen – ENG 410: WWII Literature

, where the song is used to tackle race relations in America’s current political state

This film is, of course, a criticism of all sides of the political spectrum and hints back to the song’s popularity during World War II.

The song was likely tailored towards British optimism, but I would think that rather than being used solely for the purpose of boosting morale, it was instead used as assurance of German weakness

Rose’s family appear at the start to be nice people, who believe they’re forward-thinking (“By the way, I would have voted for Obama for a third term if I could. Best president in my lifetime, hands down.”)

The movie also hints at the way that black culture can come in and out of trend and be co-opted by white society when Chris asks

More horror due to specific music placement? Effects of film music on psychophysiological responses to a horror film - Larina Sue Meinel, Claudia Bullerjahn, 2022

Therefore, film music is an integral part of most horror films

composers of horror film scores typically avoid memorable melodies in favor of musical textures, and use atonality as well as destabilization of pitch or harmony with various musical techniques such as glissandi, tremolos, or tone clusters during especially suspenseful scenes

An important element of such a shift is a reduction in the inequality of economic opportunities

China’s high growth based on resource-intensive manufacturing, exports, and low-paid labor has largely reached its limits and has led to economic, social, and environmental imbalances

China is currently experiencing the largest COVID wave since the end of the national lockdown in March 2020

What the West Gets Wrong About China

A Marxist system is concerned primarily with economic outcomes

The critical distinction is that the Chinese system is not only Marxist, it’s Marxist-Leninist

In our experience, many Westerners don’t understand what that means or why it matters
